Meet the Makers: TheMintGardener

At Evergreen Custom Gifting we focus on curated, elevated, and locally-inspired keepsakes that create a meaningful connection to our destination. Partnering with fellow creative small business owners whenever possible. In our “Meet the Makers” series we feature the local artisans and makers that provide products for our gifts.

Today we highlight TheMintGardener. Founded in 2014, by Sarah Simon, the Artist and Author at TheMintGardener. Finding inspiration in the ever-blooming variety of textures and colors in her Seattle-based urban farm, Sarah creates and teaches lush Watercolors inspired by the diverse variety of herbs, flowers, and trees grown in her garden. With a continually blooming following of botanical and art lovers alike, her teaching has received worldwide attention with her online painting courses in the International Watercolor Summit, her monthly live online teaching sessions and her three best-selling books with Penguin Random House. Sarah has taught thousands of people how to watercolor and with her teaching talents, has made it such an approachable and enjoyable art form, both for the experienced and novice alike.

What Inspired Sarah & TheMintGardener?

Sarah Simon started on a typical, expected, safe career path, but always knew she had an artist inside. When she had to think about a career change and an injury sidelined her, she seized the opportunity to spread her creative wings. She found her calling in botanical watercolors and now shares her passion and her methods through a new book and workshops.

It took Sarah literally falling: breaking her foot and spraining her ankle to slow her down and remind her why she loved to create. Sarah painted on the side until she gave up her career in Human Resources and really pursued her passion!

What's your favorite part about doing what you do?

I love to create so much : it feels good, and it's the best way I have to express my feelings and thoughts. So getting to write books and teach workshops is the best role every : teaching others how accessible art can be, and how wonderful it is...it's like teaching friends how to fly.
